Fine Queen Anne Revival Cabinet On Stand

Fine Queen Anne Revival Cabinet On Stand
Fine Queen Anne Revival Cabinet On Stand by Gill and Reigate London
English late 19th Century.
Wonderfully presented Queen Anne revival cabinet on stand in burr walnut.
Totally original and unmolested, retaining exceptional cabinet work and veneering, original door glazing , locks, escutcheons and key.
Internally the cabinet is lined with a wonderful “petrol blue” fabric and has benefited from subtle lighting units being fitted to provide cabinet lighting. The wiring loom for this is still intact and the cabling is pinned to the back of the cabinet.
We stress that we have NOT tested the lights or provide a PAT test certificate with the cabinet.
Dimensions: 73” (186cm) tall x 40” (102cm) wide x 18” (46cm) deep
Gill & Reigate
London; antique dealers, furniture retailers and makers (fl.1899-1958)
The firm was founded in 1899. By 1901 it was trading at 85 Oxford Street and described as ‘Dealers in Antique & Modern Furniture, Artistic Decorators and Upholsterers’. The firm were decorators to King George V. Addresses used by the firm up until their demise about 1958 were 25-26 George Street, Hanover Square; 73-85 Oxford Street & 7 Soho Square; Dean Street and Arlington Street; 31 East 57th Street, New York. Their showrooms were furnished in various periods and after 1900 advertised furniture in the Empire and Regency styles. Queen Mary was said to be a customer. They exhibited and advertised widely in publications such as Country Life and the Burlington Magazine. The firm designed and furnished the Royal Apartments at the Wembley Stadium for the Empire Exhibition in 1924-25.
The condition of the cabinet is wonderful with a few marks here and there but we suggest commensurate with its age and use.
