Cizhou ware or Tz'u-chou ware is typically recognised as being produced during the Chinese Ming Dynasty 1368-1644 and later into the early 18th and early 19th Century.
The Jars were used to store and preserve foods and liquids, above ground.
This pair of impressive jars are in exceptional order, with their deep cream base glaze decorated with brown slip and hand painted decoration and no cracks.
This pair have been cleverly converted into beautiful table lamps with in-line switching. The jars have not been drilled and the lamp boss fits snugly into the neck of the jars, so if you want the jars without the lamp tops, simply remove the neck boss.
