Rare mid 19th Century specimen wood marquetry occasional table

A very fine antique circular top marquetry pedestal table

We think it to be English, but it may well be French. Circa 1850

The whole table is profusely and sumptuously inlaid with many specimen woods to include: holly, sycamore, laburnum, maple, yew and other exotic woods.

The pedestal is of trumpet form again profusely inlaid and cross banded, under the base is located three very good, small brass casters and a presentation plaque dated 1945 to Constable David Anderson of the Edinburgh City Police.

The condition is remarkable given its age and history, with just a few scars being commensurate with its use.

Dimensions: 29” (74cm) in diameter x 29” (74cm) tall.
