19th Century Italian Refectory Table

19th Century Italian Refectory Table

£0.00

This stunning table is a a complete Mystery! We know that it spent most of its life at Brunel’s Bristol Temple Meads Train Station and we think is an important table.

Dating from the early / mid 19th Century and we think there has been a marriage!

So we think the base is Italian, the freeze around the top is Italian also, but the top is English oak.

We assume that at one point the original top had been damaged and replaced with the oak top, we think the freeze has been added from the original top, with a couple of smaller additions to cater for this slightly larger top, hence the odd freeze joins as seen in our images.

Either way its an absolutely joyous thing indeed and we love it! Imagine this as your office desk?

So the base stands proudly on four tapering feet with the central section slotting into each base end, the whole base section is profusely carved and the inner relief sections tooled to give the finish a stippled effect and decorated in this deep rose gold finish. the top sits well onto the base and os not fixed.

Rarely do pieces of furniture with such intriguing and historical history come to the open market and so this isa rare opportunity!

Overall its it wonderful order, there are a couple of missing roundels and thats about it.
