Rare 18th Century Italian Cassapanca Bench

£8,250.00

An outstanding mid 18th century Cassapanca bench of grand scale

Probably from the Tuscan region of Italy.

Italian circa 1750/60

Beautifully yet basically constructed from pine with a hinged lifting seat and storage under, the iron work original.

The painted decoration is of late Baroque in style and is fabulous.

The overall condition is excellent and very original, of note the two back legs have later steel bracket reinforcement (see image) the seat has had a split which has at one time been reinforced under the seat slab to stop further movement. Overall the paintwork is commensurate with its age with a few knocks and losses here and there (a bit like me)

Dimensions: 88.5” (224cm) long x 57.5” (147cm) tall. The heat height is 22” (56cm)
